The Supreme Court of Ghana has begun hearings on the presidential election petition filed by John Dramani Mahama who is praying the court to order a rerun of the December 7, 2020, election between himself and President Akufo-Addo.
Mr. Mahama argues that neither he nor President Akufo-Addo attained a clear majority during the polls because of the omission of the Techiman South constituency from the provisional declaration of results by the Electoral Commission.
According to the Electoral Commission, President Akufo-Addo garnered 51.59 percent of the votes while Mr. Mahama got 47.37 percent.
He is now asking the Supreme Court to order a re-run of the presidential election for him and the incumbent.
The hearing of the case began today.

Mr.Tsikata indicated that he was ready to move his Application for live telecast of the Court Proceedings, but the Court stated that the CJ had already decided that the proceedings be telecast live hence the application was moot.

— Dua-Agyeman Jsc (@NanaKDuaAgyeman) January 14, 2021
Shamelessly, they went to court to be granted the chance to amend their errors but they want to crucify the EC for errors that had no substantial effect on the elections #PetitionAtoNsuom
