The Lead Pastor of Empowerment Worship Centre, Prophet Gideon Danso has criticised the church for enabling corruption and failing to speak truth to power.
According to him, corruption persists because many Christians have turned a blind eye to the issue since they sometimes benefit from it in one way or another.
He said that many individuals in positions of influence, including politicians and Chief Executive Officers, attend church which raises concerns about why corruption continues to occur despite their religious involvement.
Addressing the congregation on July 7, he said "I am wondering why you're a believer and you can lie with conviction you can lie and don't feel anything.
“The challenges of Ghana is not the politicians it's the church including the pastors. Every politician goes to church on Sunday and we pour oil on them and anoint their corruption"
Prophet Danso said research shows that more than 70% of Ghanaians are Christians, yet corruption is still on the rise.
"I believe the church is not shining; we must let our light shine so brightly to overpower the 30%," he added.
He argued that this was because most Christians have failed to lead exemplary lives as Christ had instructed.
Prophet Danso charged Christians to rise up against corruption.
Last week, the Global Lead Pastor assembled some prominent pastors and gospel musicians worldwide for the church's annual 'Stand In The Gap' 48-hour nonstop prayer session.
