Black Stars skipper Stephen ‘Tonardo’ Appiah, says Mali would do well to forget any ambition to return home with even a point from their Sunday final World Cup/Cup of Nations qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Appiah in an interview with Asempa Sports said morale in the Stars camp is very high and that nothing short of victory is what each member of the team expects on Sunday.
“If the Malians have made their minds to return to their country with a point, then they should forget
about it,” he emphasised.
Appiah explained that the Stars’ 1:0 loss to the Squirrels of Benin last month was a big lesson that would not be allowed to repeat itself, saying the reaction of Ghanaians after the loss was an indication
that the Black Stars are on the hearts of every Ghanaian.
He urged Ghanaians to troop in their numbers to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to cheer the Black Stars to an emphatic victory.
Commenting on whether some senior players are under pressure by the introduction of new
players called up into the team from the Black Satellites camp, Appiah said he doesn’t
see any pressure coming on them . “I don’t see any pressure coming on us since we would
be playing as a team and not as individuals” he stated.
