Philip Yao Aglidza, stool father of Likpe Kukurantumi in the Hohoe district was on Friday remanded in prison custody by a Circuit Court for allegedly assaulting the town's chief, Nana Aniewu Agyema III.
Aglidza pleaded not guilty and he would re-appear in court on August 6, this year.
Chief Inspector Emmanuel Gbedemah, prosecuting, told the Court, presided over by Mr Samuel Sarpong-Appiah, that Aglidza masterminded pelting and harassment of Nana Agyema on suspicions that the chief was responsible for the death of a native through witchcraft three years ago.
He said the elders of the community withdrew the case from a Hohoe Magistrate Court for settlement at home. The prosecution said after the arbitration found Aglidza culpable and fined him, the suspect, in an apparent show of dissatisfaction with the verdict, rose to the chief and assaulted him many times.
Chief Inspector Gbedemah said Aglidza's action caused pandemonium, leading to the abrupt end of proceedings.
He said Aglidza corroborated the incident to the Police but explained that his action was intended to destool Nana Agyema.
