The President of the Nurses and Midwives Council, Mrs. Alice Asare Allottey says the strike by the trainee nurses was uncalled for.
The nurses embarked on strike saying their demand for allowance increment has not been met.
But Mrs. Allottey said the council is currently in a state of shock as it did not receive any notice from the protesters before the strike began.
She told Joy News on Tuesday that the mother association of the trainees was in a meeting to resolve concerns of the health sector including the Trainee nurses.
"We do not understand the reason for this strike because, we have discussed this issue with them and we have assured them of a positive result as the transmission onto the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) is a gradual process," Mrs. Allottey stressed.
She said the Nurses and Midwives Council will make sure allowances of trainee nurses are put on the SSSS.
However, the Nurses and Midwives Council is calling on Nurse Trainees to call off their strike as the council is doing everything possible to put them on the SSSS.
