National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch executives and youth groups of Tamale Central constituency have pledged their support to Member of Parliament for the constituency, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, and President John Mahama to enable them accomplish projects in the area.
The executives and youth groups announced this in Tamale on Thursday at a press conference to call off their earlier boycott of party activities and also to disassociate themselves from a press statement issued by a group calling itself the Concerned Youth of Tamale.
The NDC executives and youth groups earlier this month boycotted party activities to register their discontent with regional executives who they said were not responding to their needs.
The Concerned Youth of Tamale had also called for the dismissal of Alhaji Inusah Fuseini as Minister for Lands and Forestry. They claimed the Minister was notcommitted to party structures in the constituency.
But at the press conference, the spokesperson of the NDC Tamale Central constituency executives, Issah Dabali, said they are committed to assisting the MP and the President address the numerous challenges confronting the country.
Although they did not give reasons for rescinding their decision to boycott party activities, Issah Dabali said “the MP for Tamale Central, who is just an individual, has never been our target. Our target is the collective fight against poverty, hunger, disease, youth unemployment, the quest for women empowerment as well as a handsome reward to our dynamic party agents who stood up to the task when needed most in elections”.
He apologised to the President and the MP for boycotting party activities and called on the general public to disregard the statement issued by the Concern Youth of Tamale.
He said statements by the Concerned Youth of Tamale does not represent the views of the larger majority of the people of Tamale.
