Traders at the Tema Community One market have been experiencing shocks from exposed electrical wires.
They fear the wires may electrocute them or cause major fire outbreaks if not replaced.
The traders told Joy News' Hannah Odame they have reported the situation to officials of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) but nothing has been done.
But ECG has however denied reports of complicity in the laying of the "illegal" wires.
In an interaction with the traders, an official of the ECG Ebenezer Fiador blamed naked wiring on the Tema Municipal Assembly (TMA).
"So it's somebody in charge of the market who has failed to do his work and they say ECG but it is not ECG. It is the assemblies that are not doing their work," Fiador said.
In solving the potential threat of shock from the electrical wires, the official said the roofing sheets in contact with the main power source must be removed.
