Ten rural communities in Atwima Mponua District are slowly turning into ghost towns as residents, especially the youth, leave in search of light and better opportunities.
For decades, these villages have lived in darkness, despite a promised electrification project that never materialised.
Electric poles and transformers installed years ago now sit unused, while families rely on torchlights for their daily routines and children study under fading beams in deteriorating homes.
