The Krontihene of Akyem Asoum, Nana Boadi Amponim Abodade III, has expressed gratitude for what he believes is the imminent return of John Mahama as Ghana’s president.
In an interview on GHOne TV, the traditional ruler likened Mahama to a biblical Good Samaritan, calling him a saviour for a nation he described as “stripped naked” by the outgoing Akufo-Addo administration.
“We thank God that the good Lord is about to give the mantle to President John Mahama,” Nana Boadi declared, referencing Luke 10:29.
“Ghana has been stripped naked; Mother Ghana is bleeding. The robbers have stolen all the goodies, and a Good Samaritan has come to rescue her and recover the loot that the robbers took.”
He didn’t mince words about the current government’s track record, describing it as one of wasted opportunities despite significant revenues.
“He had so much revenue; he had so much he could have done for this country,” Nana Boadi said, lamenting the mismanagement that, in his view, left the nation worse off.
Nana Boadi’s hope for the future rests on Mahama’s ability to restore Ghana’s dignity and ensure the judicious use of resources.
“Some of us are happy that his [Akufo-Addo’s] reign is over. A lot of the chiefs are happy,” he added.
In his closing remarks, the Krontihene reiterated his optimism about Mahama’s return to power, praising his potential to heal the country.
“Ghana needs a leader who will put her in a good, healthy, and happy situation,” he said.
