Tongues are wagging over a bizarre incident of a 7-year-old boy who was mauled by two bulldogs at Bronikrom near Abrepo in the Ashanti Region.
Jude Bempah Wireko was pronounced dead at the Accident and Emergency Center of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on July 2, 2023 after the attacks which occurred at about 17: 00.
It was unusual for the family’s two dogs, a male and female, to attack the boy known to them as a “friend”.
It is unclear what provoked the attack on the boy as the dogs are said to have left the food served them by the family unattended moments before the attack.
The dogs rushed on the deceased who was playing in the compound, mauled him several times, then dragged him onto the floor.
The shouts of the boy and the intervention of the grandmother could not scare the dogs who left their victims badly wounded.
In the process, the grandmother was also bitten multiple times in the arms, ribs, thigh, among other parts.
A call for help by the sister of the deceased attracted some men in the area to save the victims from further attacks.
The deceased is said to have regularly played with the animals in the family’s Bronikrom apartment.
The attacks came at a time when the boy’s father, an Electrical Contractor had traveled outside the Ashanti region. His mother is studying abroad.
