Media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has called for more public discourse on issues of sexual harassment in order to encourage victims of abuse to expose perpetrators.

According to the broadcaster, the topic of sexual harassment requires a lot of attention to encourage ladies to come out when they have been victimised.

“The more we talk about it, the easier it becomes for these girls to come out,” she told Daniel Dadzie, host of Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Friday.

Nana Aba Anamoah further blamed families and society for ignoring the allegations made by victims of abuse thereby, causing them to shy away from reporting the culprits.

“Even when you come out to report, they will start asking questions. I know that there is a lot of stigmatisation out there when you feel you’ve been raped, you talk about it and everybody attacks you and for the rest of your life you have to read about it,” she lamented.

Nana Aba Anamoah also advised ladies to boldly tell men how they feel about sexual advances that are targeted at them.

Her comments come in the wake of BBC Africa Eye’s “Sex for Grades” documentary, which showed some lecturers in the University of Ghana demanding sexual encounters with supposed female students in exchange for favours.

The University of Ghana has since suspended Dr Ransford Gyampo and Dr Paul Kwame Butakor after the release of the documentary.

They are scheduled to appear before the University’s Anti-Sexual harassment committee in the coming days.

However, has been several reactions by the public after the airing of the investigative documentary. Several ladies have come out to recount their experiences of sexual harassment in several social environments.
