Millicom Ghana Limited, owners of the Tigo cellular phone system, on Tuesday contributed to the celebration of My First Day at School by distributing 360 mathematical sets to pupils of Asaman Tamfoe RC Primary School in the Eastern Region.
Presenting the items to the pupils, Ms. Faustina Ofosua-Ntiamoah, regional manager of the company, said it decided to support education by providing learning aids to six selected schools in deprived areas in the region.
She said the company would in all distribute 5,000 mathematical sets to pupils of some schools this year.
Ms. Ofusu-Ntiamoh explained that the mathematical sets, which had been decorated with the national colours, could attract more children to go to school.
She said she would serve as a role model for girls in the educational institutions to aspire girls to learn hard.
Barima Kwame Koh II, Chief of Asaman Tamfoe, who received the items on behalf of the school, thanked the company for its support and appealed to it to assist the school to improve upon its infrastructure to facilitate teaching and learning.
Later, a group from the Atiwa District Assembly led by Mr. Godfried Boateng-Sefa presented My First Day at School caps, Kalypo drinks, biscuits and miniature Ghana flags to 30 children who were welcome to Kindergarten one class.
