Outspoken MP for Asikuma-Odobeng-Brakwa, P.C. Appiah Ofori, has chided ex-government officials over delays in returning official state vehicles.
According to him, the practice of state functionaries buying their official cars on leaving office amounted to “looting of the public purse.”
Government has been chasing ex-functionaries for cars in the national fleet and has issued a one week ultimatum for their return or will forcibly retrieve them.
The ultimatum did not go down well with some of the officials, provoking threats of court action.
But Hon. Appiah Ofori told Citi News “the time to stop the looting is now.”
He called on the Mills’ administration to institute punitive actions against the defaulting officials to serve as a deterrent for incoming officials.
Listen to excerpts of the interview with PC Appiah Ofori in the attached audio.
