The Deputy Minister of Energy in charge of Petroleum, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, on Monday paid a working visit to the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR).
He was accompanied by the Chief Director of the Ministry of Energy, Prof. Thomas Mba Akabzaa and other officials of the ministry.
In a discussion with the management of TOR, the Deputy Minister reiterated the Ministry of Energy’s commitment to ensure that the refinery is given all the necessary assistance to maximize its production.
He acknowledged the difficulties both management and staff are going through and promised to ensure that TOR is provided with the needed funds for smooth operations.
The Management team of TOR, led by the Managing Director, Mr. Ato Ampiah, told the Minister that all is set for the refinery to resume operations within two weeks. He said some of the plants at the refinery had become dangerous due to the worn-out parts and called on the Minister to help ensure maximum operations.
He used the occasion to apprise the minister of training programmes being conducted for tanker drivers on health and safety. Mr. Ampiah said the plan is to train about 500 drivers, adding however that that would also depend on the logistics made available to the refinery.
The Deputy Minister and his team were conducted round to inspect some of the works being done on the refinery.
