Over 200 local certified electricians from the Greater Accra Region have undergone a training seminar organized by the Tropical Cables and Contours Limited (TCCL).

The one-day workshop which aimed at building their capacity seeks to expose them to internationally accepted wiring practices.

The seminar, which is the second this year forms part of Ghana’s cable manufacturing giant’s long-term corporate strategy to raise the standard of wiring in the country and also to create awareness on the proper use of electrical cables.

Also, it aims to point out the dangers of using fake and sub-standard electrical cables. 

The company started the seminars to introduce its products and also to educate the general public about fake and substandard electrical cables to help prevent electricity-related fire outbreaks in the country.

The participants were taken through modern techniques in both industrial and domestic wiring by resource persons from the Ghana Energy Commission (GEC), Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

In an interview with  the Marketing and Business Development Manager of TCCL, Nana Kwame Oteng-Gyasi said his company has partnered the GEC to drive its campaign on proper wiring so there is a regular interaction between them and certified electrical wiring practitioners.

"We engage so we can sensitize them on the right way of wiring homes and premises to ensure safety in our homes," Nana Oteng-Gyasi said.

He said TCCL will continue to support GEC in its operations to build the capacity of certified electricians and also to  educate the general public on the use of electrical cables.  

Established in 1997, Tropical Cable and Conductor Limited has made impressive progress in its production capacity to over 5,000 tonnes of Aluminium and Copper annually.
