Two armed robbers were jailed a total of 60 years for robbing a man of his mobile phone and his GH¢60.00 at gun point by a Tarkwa circuit court presided over by His Lordship John Ajet Nasam.
The robbers who are Adama Idrisah and Sarpa Seiba both farm labourers and Burkinabes had 30 years each.
They both pleaded guilty and did not show any remorse when the judgment was pronounced.
Prosecuting, Inspector Anthony Danso of the Tarkwa Police said the complainant is a 30 years old farmer living at Akurugu village near Sefwi Yawmatwa, whilst the accused persons are also Burkinabes resident at Sefwi Yawmatwa.
He said on April 2, 2008 Idrisah alleged that his wife was under serious attack by a woman she owed an amount of GH¢40.00 and to free her from such pressures, he proposed to Seiba to rob the complainant at his village.
Seiba agreed to commit the crime and on April 3 2008, at about 1.00a.m, they armed themselves with two locally manufactured pistols and a cutlass each and went to the complainant’s village.
Wearing masks, the two went to attack the complainant and his wife at their village.
On reaching the village, Idrisah fired two gun shots and succeeded in collecting the complainant’s Nokia 2310 Mobile phone.
Inspector Danso said on the same day at about 8.00 am the complainant reported the incident to the police, who arrested the suspects at their hide outs.
The mobile phone was found on them with a single spent cartridge.
He said during interrogation, the two admitted attacking and robbing the complainant at gun point.
