Two galamsey operators, Ackah, 30, and Doku, 24, who were prospecting for gold at Adawotwe site near Mpohor in the Western region, lost their lives when the pit in which they were working caved-in.
The incident occurred on December 4, 2012 at about Sam, according to a native of Mpohor, and confirmed Wednesday by the Western Regional Police Command in Sekondi.
When the police were informed, they went to the scene where some other galamsey operators willingly assisted in removing the bodies of the deceased.
The bodies have been deposited at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital mortuary in Sekondi awaiting autopsy.
