Two people on Sunday perished when a Toyota Saloon car on which they were travelling from Bibiani to Kumasi involved in an accident.
The bodies of Akwasi Agyekum, 38, and Yaw Akim, a student of the Agogoso Junior High School, had been deposited at mortuary at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
GNA learnt that the vehicle somersaulted after it fell into a pothole at Bentinko near Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Mintah Afari, in charge of the Nkawie Motor Traffic and Transport Unit, told Ghana News Agency that the driver of the vehicle, Master Awudu, who sustained serious injury was on admission at KATH.
He said that the incident occurred at about 1715 hours and the driver was first rushed to the Nyinahinin Government Hospital and later sent to the KATH.
ASP Afari appealed to the Ghana Highway Authority to rehabilitate the Bibiani-Kumasi road, which was with potholes, especially the Bentinko and Anyinamso Number Two sections of the road.Source: GNA
