Just days after the death of Stephen Keshi, another former Super Eagles coach Amodu Shuaibu has passed on.
The 58-year-old, who was at his death the technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation, is suspected to have died in his sleep on Saturday morning in Benin City, same city where Keshi died.
"The Edo State Commissioner for Information, Kazeem Afegbua, called me this morning to inform me of Amodu's death," Edo State FA boss Frank Ilaboya said.
"His corpse has been deposited at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital morgue in Benin City."
Amodu was one of the most successful coaches in Nigerian football and Keshi was once his assistant. Twice he qualified the Super Eagles for the World Cup, but on both occasions - in 2002 and 2010 - he was not allowed to lead the team to the global showpiece.
He led Nigerian club BCC Lions to the 1989 Challenge Cup (FA Cup), before winning the African Cup Winners Cup with the same club the following year.
