The Winneba District Magistrate Court has jailed a 24-year old man for 12 months with hard labour, for stealing two mobile phones at the Senya Bereku Police barracks.
The convict Kweku Eyenda pleaded guilty.
Chief Inspector Richard Samadji told the court presided over by Mr Charles Owusu Nsia, that the accused, a native of Senya Bereku, regularly visited his friends at the barracks.
He said on May 29 2011, the convict was again seen at the Barracks between 1900 and 2000 hours.
Chief Inspector Samadji said on that occasion, the accused managed to enter the room where Yaw Gyese and Daniel Appiah were sleeping and took away two mobile phones.
He said after the accused had left, one of the children woke up and when he looked for his phone, he could not find it and woke up his brother too and asked him of his phone.
He said the brother also detected that his phone was missing and raised an alarm.
Chief Inspector Samadji said a policeman going on duty arrested the suspect and sent him to the police station and upon interrogation, he admitted the offence.
He said when Eyenda was searched one of the phones was found his pocket and was arraigned before the court.
