Union Savings and Loans has this year been adjudged Chartered Institute of Marketing – CIMG Best Emerging Brand of the Year 2014.
This means “of all the companies that emerge whether as a new set-up or as a restructured company we are the best among all the companies that emerged in that year” an elated CEO of the company Philip Oti-Mensah exclaimed.
He added “we are delighted to have won this award because we planned for this and after two years of restructuring here we are.
“This means it pays to be consistent because we decided that we want to be the number one SME Bank and we positioned ourselves to be just that and that is what has brought us this award.”

The company he said started restructuring its operations in 2013 by introducing some customer-focused products and getting a lot closer to its clients.
This he said was imperative because if the external environment is challenging especially, for customers who have taken loans, “then businesses must be a bit sympathetic to their clients and not go after them with the whip.
“It is rather the time to sit down with them, understand their business and find mutual ways in solving such problems.”
Mr. Oti-Mensah indicated that the current economic challenges could give people a reason not to save but emphasized the need for people to keep saving “even if in bits and earn high returns and that is the reason why we introduced the Union Omni Savings Campaign.”
