A Peoples Democratic Party Chieftain in Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill has urged the federal government to unmask those behind the Jos gory, gruesome and condemnable weekend killings. Princewill who made his feelings known through an online press statement issued on his behalf by his image maker, Chief Eze C. Eze calls for proactive security strategy in handling national security challenges. Here is the full version of the press statement: The brutal and gruesome killings of over 114 innocent villagers and distinguished sons and daughters of Plateau State by some allegedly Fulani Herdsmen in Barkin - Ladi LGA of Plateau state (63 killed during the attack and 50 burnt in a Pastor’s House in Maseh by an assumed Fulani Herdsmen) penultimate Saturday, has once again brought to fore the precarious security situation that has never been witnessed in the annals of this country. This is against the backdrop of the recent visit by the new National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) to Plateau State to broker peace between the warring factions involved in the fratricidal war that has pervaded the State for some time now. Two illustrious sons, a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Most Distinguished Senator Dantong Gyang Daiyop the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Hon. Gyang Funlani the majority Leader of the Plateau State House of Assembly were sent to their early graves in a barbaric and Gestapo manner while going to attend the funeral ceremony of villagers slaughtered the previous day. Similarly, Hon. Davou Mwadkwon, a member of the House of Representatives was reported to have been seriously injured in the attack and receiving treatment in the hospital. Prince Tonye Princewill a PDP Chieftain and Leader of Princewill Political Associates (PPA) joins other Nigerians to mourn the souls of the departed; “I pray God almighty in His infinite mercies to grant the families and the good people of Plateau state the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Nigeria as a country is beginning to be a jungle where anything can happen. The Security in the country situation has become very grave and embarrassing despite the strategies adopted by the Federal government to tackle the situation with its abysmal failure in addressing this dangerous trend evolving in Nigeria. Nigerians including myself are no longer comfortable with the Federal government seemingly helpless approach to remedy and assure Nigerians of the safety of their lives and property. The sympathy, assurances as expressed in the press releases by government and declaration of state of emergencies in some part of the state have so far failed woefully in addressing the precarious security situation in Plateau state and in other parts of Northern Nigeria. I implore the Federal Government and her security agencies to do more and unravel the masterminds of these dastardly acts of terrorism and violence cascading the entire landscape of Northern Nigeria. It is only when the personality that sponsors these violence are exposed to the public and punished accordingly that others with such criminal intents can be deterred. With the advanced manner the massacre of these innocent Nigerians by assumed heavily armed men in military uniforms using sophisticated weapons of destruction cannot be said that these people are just common Fulani Herdsmen as we know them. From where did these people have these weapons of destruction, I am more than convinced now that they are master be brains and sponsors in the leadership fuelling all these crimes and the government must exposed them if we still want this country to be intact. We have handled with kid’s glove the security challenge of this country and everyday our people are being slaughtered as goats and for a serving Senator to be murdered with all the security aides at his beck then what is the fate of some of us common Nigerians. I think enough is enough” the Prince concluded.
