The unruly behaviour of some electorate in the Angu Electoral Area in the Mpohor Wassa East District prevented the Electoral Commission (EC) from announcing results of the District Level Election.
Mr Yaw Amoah Gyasi, District Electoral Officer told the Ghana News Agency at Daboase in the Western Region that some supporters of contestants of the elections threatened to beat up officials of the EC, compelling personnel of the Ghana Police Service to fire warning shorts to disperse them before securing the polling materials.
The District Level and Unit Committee elections however took place on July 2 as scheduled in the eight electoral areas of Aboaboso, Angu, Atwerebonda, Ankobea, Ohiowoanwu, Dominase, Ayiem and Benso Oil Palm Plantation.
Mr Gyasi said the elections took place in 11 other electoral areas on December 30 last year.
The areas were Daboase East, Daboase West, Dompim Number One, Sekyere Heman, Mampong Botogyina, Adansi, Essaman, Enyinabrim, Plato, Brafidor and Adaase-Asratuase electoral areas.
The elections at the remaining 15 electoral areas weree held on Tuesday, January 4.
