Communicators for governing National Democratic Congress and opposition New Patriotic Party in the Upper East region, have agreed to refrain from making post judgment analysis for three days, after the Supreme Court pronounces judgment on the election petition. The parties made the declaration a meeting with the Regional Minister, Alhaji Lumina Mohammed Muniru, his deputy and the Regional Security Council. This pledge comes ahead the August 29, judgment to be delivered by the justices adjudicating the election petition sponsored by three key NPP figures, who are challenging the declaration of John Mahama as winner of last December's presidential polls. As the country awaits the judgment, there have been increased calls for peace no matter the implications of the court ruling. Communications Director for the NPP in the Region, Ibrahim Basiru says members of the party are ready to accept the Supreme Court judgment. "For us as a party we have always taken a cue from our flagbearer. It is totally sarcastic if we decide not to accept any verdict. In any case, we have decided to go to court", he explained. A member of the the NDC’s Communication team member, Paul Dunca says politicians must use civil language in their radio commentary saying, "people believe in what we say on air. We wield some level of power. Peace and war are in our tongue". Regional Minister, Alhaji Lumina Mohammed Muniru appealed to the party communicators to refrain from inciting their members to foment trouble. He said, "if we agree that we are dedicating the whole week to talk about peace, you phone in that day, don't refer as an NPP communicator but refer to [him] as a Ghanaian"
