Aspiring Member of Parliament (MP)for Ablekuma North, Ursula Owusu, has cautioned the newly elected national chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) to be on guard against members of the governing party whom she said are scheming to absorb the CPP.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC), according to Ursula, is only fraternizing with the chairperson because she fits well into their game plan.
Samia Yaba Nkrumah and one of her brothers, Prof Francis Nkrumah were among dignitaries who sat on the dais during the Founder’s Day celebration of their father Dr Kwame Nkrumah on Wednesday while Sekou Nkrumah – who recently resigned from the NDC – had no place on the dais and made to sit elsewhere.
Sekou left the event grounds before it ended and has since registered his displeasure at the situation.
Whilst contributing to discussion on Peace FM’s news analysis programme Kokrokoo Thursday, Ursula Owusu said the NDC is spiting Sekou and opening its arms to Samia because she fits well into their schemes.
She bemoaned the practice whereby people who are seen to be critical of government are mistreated during state functions.
Ms Owusu cautioned Samia to be careful in her dealings with members of the ruling party since to, her knowledge, they have a penchant for using and dumping people who serve their interests.
“…she should beware of the Greeks when they come bearing gifts,” Ursula counseled Samia, recalling that the NDC has been able to sideline their own founder, making him irrelevant to the party and disgraced his wife at any given opportunity.
The manner in which NDC has “used, abused and discarded Rawlings,” Ursula feared, would be replicated in the case of Samia once she exhausts her usefulness to the party.
