In a statement released to the press in Wa on Friday, the chairman stated that an impression has been created by certain people in the party that he has declared his intention not to contest for the office when nominations are opened.
''Never have I on any occasion mentioned to any one that I was no more interested in the regional chairmanship of the party.
The doors will be opened to all interested parties when the green light is given, so people should remain calm and not propagate what I have not said,'' he insisted.
Mr. Malik said he is enthused that several people in the party are expressing interest to serve the party in in diverse positions within the party in the region.
However, he appealed to all prospecting candidates to exercise a bit of restraint as the leadership of the party is relentlessly working on modalities for the impending election.

He concluded by assuring all qualified party members intending to contest the various positions when nominations are opened that ''transparency and fairness shall be the name of the game and every candidate will be given a fair chance to contest''.
