Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama at the weekend visited Tema Harbour City to see at first hand efforts being made by energy producers to combat the current energy crisis.
His first point of call was Tema Drydock where electricity generators installed since March, 2007 is providing 50 megawatts of electricity.
Flanked by Mr Kofi Adda, Minister of Energy, Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning and Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, the Vice President also visited the Volta River Authority operated generators at the Free Zone Enclave where 30 megawatts of power are being generated.
Work is ongoing at Tema Thermal Plant where 126 megawatts of electricity is expected to be generated.
A consortium of mining companies is also installing generators to produce 80 megawatts of power.
The team also inspected progress of work at the West Africa Gas Pipeline project site and Kpone Affordable Housing Project.
Vice President Mahama expressed the hope that the massive collaboration between the public and private sectors would cushion the grip of the power crisis on the country between September to December this year.
