The woman behind the popular hi-life song, ‘Medofo Adaada Me’ has died.
The veteran hi-life musician, Awurama Badu passed away on Thursday night.
The musician died while on admission at the Effiduase Government Hospital in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region.
The 72-year-old, one of the country’s prolific musicians, had been ill for some time now and it is unclear what sickness she had been battling.
Apart from ‘Medofo Adaada Me’, the musician is also known for popular songs such as ‘Komkom’, ‘Emelia’ and ‘Obaatan Refre Ne Mma’.
In 2016, Values for Life (VFL), a non-governmental and non-profit making organization, recorgnised her for her immense contribution to the growth of music in Ghana.
The event, ‘A Night With Female Legends’, which was put together by VFL, promotes African cultural renaissance and restoration, particularly among the youth.
