The 2014 nominees of the Vlisco Dare to Dream Women’s Month campaign have signed up to the Protect the Goal campaign of the United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).
As part of the campaign, Ayesha Bedwei and Eugenia Tachie-Menson pledged to use their various brands to push forward the agenda of reducing HIV/ AIDS in the world, particularly Ghana, through educating people on the need to practice safe sex.
They also recorded videos of their pledges to get many people inspired by their works to appreciate the relevance of the campaign and the need to protect the world against HIV/AIDS in the face of its prevalence.
The Protect the Goal campaign which is a joint initiative between UNAIDS and the world football governing body, FIFA is aimed at using sports as means of educating people and creating awareness on the prevention of HIV/AIDS.
Country Director for UNAIDS, Girmay Haile, said the Protect the Goal campaign is part of measures to achieve the UNAIDS 2015 vision of zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths.
He revealed that HIV prevalence rate in Ghana has decreased due to the awareness creation, use of condoms by the youth and the availability of drugs for affected persons.
“We are happy to partner with people who have the platform to create more awareness on the menace” the UNAIDS Country Director noted.
Girmay Haile urged them to use their ‘celebrity’ status to create more awareness about HIV/AIDS.
Ayesha Bedwei, Tax Director at Price waterhouse Coopers said she is honoured to be part of a campaign to save humanity.
“I’m happy to support this campaign to create more awareness about the HIV/AIDS. I’m really honoured” she added.

Eugenia Tachie-Menson, a social entrepreneur by profession pledge her unflinching support to the Protect the Goal campaign.
Meanwhile, the Vlisco Women’s Month campaign on the theme: ‘Dare To Dream’, is to identify and reward women who dream, pursue them and go on to inspire others to realize and achieve their dreams.
The campaign takes its origin from the International Women’s Day; a day set aside to recognize and honour women for their achievements and contribution to the development of society.
