The Volta Region branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has launched an award ceremony in Ho over the weekend to appreciate journalists and media practitioners in the region.
The maiden Volta GJA/AGI Awards is also aimed at encouraging the young journalists in the region to also improve upon their works and also learn from the experienced hands.
The award ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, December 9, 2017, in the regional capital, Ho with the title sponsor as the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI).
Launching the awards, the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa, admonished journalists in the region help the government achieve its policies and also expose the region to the international market.
According to him, the Volta Region should be able to transform positively through the works of the journalists in the region.
“Journalist in the region should help in the development of the region and the policies of the government through their works,” he said.
He said quality human resource was critical to national development and pledged to ensure the region was made attractive to employees.
