The Wala youth in the Ashanti Region say they will not allow any of their members to become part of the rioting youth ahead of this year's elections.
According to the leadership of the group, they are battle-ready to steer their members on a peaceful road.
This came up when members of the group gathered at Suame in Kumasi to deliberate on how they can contribute towards a peaceful election.
Legal practitioner and member of the group, Mujeeb Mohammed, urged Zongo communities to say enough is enough to violence especially during election period.
He drew the attention of how members of how some people in the Zongo communities are creating a bad image for the area.
“Many of those who appear in the law court are our people. We can’t allow this to continue,” he said.
The legal practitioner reiterates constantly stressed how unemployment is contributing to the Zongo youth agreeing to cause mayhem when contracted by some people.
Mr Mohammed said there should be a rapid response to curb the situation.
“Enough is enough. We can’t allow this to continue,” he issued a rallying call.
The forum brought together politicians, chiefs and other professionals from the Wala community.
Secretary of the group, Ishaq Bakure said they would not champion the cause of peace for members, but they will also engage others to create enabling environment before, during and after this year’s election.
They would also travel back home to the Upper West Region if the need be to sensitise their families and friends there.
Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo was in attendance.
Mr Pelpuo pledged to provide moral and physical support to the group urging them not to relent on their course to achieve a peaceful country.
He wants government to provide sustainable jobs such groups so that they may not deviate from their main objectives.
