The venue for the draws of the final phase of the 2014 World Cup qualifier have been moved from Cairo to Luxor, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced.
This is largely due to budding political instability in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. However, the date, Monday, September 16, remains unchanged.

The event was previously scheduled to take place at the headquarters of the continent’s soccer governing body in Cairo.
Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the EFA had resolved to host the ceremony in the ancient city, located in the southern part of Egypt.
-The winners of 10 groups that play in the African World Cup 2014 qualifiers playoff will attend the ceremony in Luxor after an agreement with CAF, to change the draw venue, a source told GNA Sports.
-The CAF representatives will be welcomed in Luxor alongside officials from the qualified teams and media personnel.

The 10 qualified teams are Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Senegal,
Luxor, famed for tourism and nicknamed the ‘world’s greatest open air museum’ also hosted the final draw of the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which Ghana’s Black Satellites won the eventual tournament.
