The Nkoranza District Water and Sanitation Project, in collaboration with Partnership in Rural Development, an NGO, have started a programme to help cure guinea worm victims in endemic communities in the Northern region.
Mr. James Sarfo Acheampong, Nkoranza District Coordinator of the project said that the two organizations had developed a herbal drug that could cure victims within five days.
Mr. Acheampong said Mr. Williams Sei of the NGO was the herbalist who developed the drug, which had been tried on some victims at Techiman and Nkoranza and had proved successful.
He said both organizations had written to the authorities of the Tamale municipal assembly seeking permission to embark on the exercise and asked victims to contact the organizations.
