Pe Ditundini Adiali Ayagitam - Paramount Chief, Chiana Traditional Area

The Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional Area, Pe Ditundini Adiali Ayagitam, has renewed his call for support from the other four regional houses of chiefs in northern Ghana for a permanent solution to the Bawku crisis.

He stressed, "the case has a northern dimension, and I think it is time for all of us to come on board with our inputs from the four other houses to speed up the search for a peaceful solution to the issue".

He said a collective resolution of the dispute would help secure the future of Bawku and bring back its lost and vibrant economic fortune.

Pe Ditundini Adiali Ayagitam, who is also the President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, made the call during the coronation of the Paramount Chief of Jama Traditional Area, Nnaa Professor Lanjagor Karley, in the Savannah region.

He called for close collaboration amongst the chiefs and people in the northern part of the country, with the view of finding solutions to the numerous challenges fighting against peaceful development.

For his part, the Paramount Chief of the Jama Traditional Area, Nnaa Professor Lanjagor Karley, said his coronation is not a symbol of power and splendour but a declaration of the hopes and future of the Jama Traditional Area.

He acknowledged that there is much work for his administration to do for the people of the Jama Traditional area.

"The living conditions of my people call for action, bold and swift, and I will act - not only to create new opportunities and new jobs in a rapidly changing environment but to lay a new foundation for development and growth, especially through investment in education," he stressed.

Nnaa Professor Karley said, "by working together, we will reclaim victory against poverty, unemployment and inequalities and build a prosperous and strong chieftaincy".

He added that his administration is committed to bringing quality education through virtual learning schools to the Jama Traditional Area, North-Mo Traditional Area, Bole District, Degaland and the Savannah region in general.

He consequently called on well-meaning organisations such as the Bui Power Authority to extend their corporate social responsibility to the Jama area to enhance educational attainment, especially in science and technology.

The Paramount Chief of Jama, further appealed to the government to support the area with efficient telecommunication infrastructure to boost their proposed virtual learning schools.

He urged his people to respect each other, recognise individual views, roles and responsibilities in community development to forge ahead for holistic development.

"I entreat us to eschew political party differences and fight as one people with development focus and victory would be ours," Nnaa Professor Karley added.

Nnaa Professor Karley succeeds his late uncle, Nnaa Kojo Pambo II, as the paramount chief of the Jama Traditional Area.
