The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has predicted that the current wet weather conditions in some parts of the country will ease in the second week of August 2023.
In a rainfall weather advisory for Ghana issued today, it said, "the number of wet weather conditions such as the cloudy sky and cool days across most part of the country is expected to gradually decrease."
Squall lines that could result in moderate to severe thunderstorms or rain are however expected especially in the Ashanti, Eastern,Volta and coastal areas.
Frequent thunderstorms or rain with varying intensities, lightening, and moderate windy conditions could result in flash floods are also expected in Northern Ghana and some few places in Southern Ghana as the unimodal rainy season has started.
According to the GMet advisory, over the past few days, moist winds from Gulf of Guinea or Southern Hemisphere have advected into the West African subregion. This has contributed to cloudy skies, sunny breaks, and slight to moderate intermittent wet weather conditions as observed over the Greater Accra, Central, Western and Western North regions.
The general public is advised to check weather conditions before planning outdoor activities, especially for those in Northern Ghana.
