Government says it has fulfilled it's part of the bargain when it comes to the country's Zongos and Inner Cities and therefore deserves massive support and votes in the upcoming general elections.
According to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the last three years has rolled out life-changing policies in the Zongos using the Ministry of Zongos and Inner City Development.

Dr. Bawumia pointed out the Free Senior High School policy and the sponsorship of some 40 science students from mainly Muslim communities to study medicine in Cuba, as some of the policies that have impacted positively on lives in underserved localities.
"There are no excuses for Junior High School graduates not to pursue secondary education," Dr. Bawumia said about the Party's flagship Free Senior High School policy.

He added that the administration has taken concrete steps to end the "sugar and rice politics in the Zongos", a departure from what politicians do for people in the inner cities.
"As we prepared our 2016 manifesto, we looked at the Zongos and we identified two key problems that we thought God willing if we had the chance, we would address. One was education."
"The other was to look for a vehicle that will prioritise development in Zongos because we wanted to move away from the rice and sugar type of development.

"We wanted to focus on the real needs of the people and we wanted to move away from what we will do when it is Ramadan and Hajj, which seemed to be the way the Zongos were dealt with”.
Dr. Bawumia who was accompanied by National Chairman of the party Freddy Blay and MP for the area, Patrick Boamah, used the opportunity to request for prayers and support from the National Chief Imam, Zongo dwellers, and the Ghanaian people.
He also officially introduced himself as the running mate for President Akufo-Addo ahead of the December 7 polls.
