The Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) constituency in the Central Region is set to be one of the most competitive parliamentary elections in the December polls.
Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party currently occupies the seat, but with his eyes on the presidency, the race for his successor has become even keen.
Already, political analysts have described Dr. Nduom’s victory in 2004 as a fluke, with the failure of the ruling New Patriotic Party to field in a candidate.
But with the current Central Regional Minister Nana Ato Arthur vying for the seat on the ticket of the ruling party, the CPP’s stranglehold on the constituency appears to be under threat as the December polls approach.
Speaking to Joy News, the CPP Parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Joachim Eshun says he would prove his skeptics wrong.
According to him, his faith and hard work will see him through to victory in the December polls.
“I have toured all the polling stations and spoken to all the executives, and I will do the follow up to sustain the interest they have in me.”
Even though he has respect for the candidates of the NPP and the NDC, Mr. Eshun insisted he has “more than they have” to win the elections.
He dismissed assertions he was operating under the shadows of Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, who he claims has been the toast of the constituency for his hard work.
