The spouse of a National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch youth organiser in the Asante Mampong Constituency has been apprehended by police on suspicion of fatally stabbing him.
The victim, identified as Osei Akoto, a teacher in his 40s, died from his injuries upon arrival at the hospital after allegedly being stabbed by his partner during a heated dispute.
The incident, which unfolded in the Kofi Sarpong suburb of Asante Mampong where the couple resided, has left residents in shock and disbelief.
According to neighbours, the deceased and his wife identified only as Abigail, were known to engage in frequent quarrels, with a particularly heated altercation occurring on the night of the incident, ultimately leading to the fatal stabbing.
Abigail is currently in police custody to assist in ongoing investigation.
Hudu Mumuni Yahaya, an NDC representative in the Asante Mampong Constituency, confirmed the tragic incident, extending condolences to the bereaved family and acknowledging the deceased's dedicated contributions to the party's local activities.
Osei Akoto leaves behind three children, and his body has been transported to the morgue for preservation and further examination through autopsy.
