The wife of the Ghanaian Times reporter who died in an accident whilst covering the president is demanding for the investigative report on the death of her husband.

Wife of deceased Lillian Nuamah told Joy News she has been following up on the report but all to no avail.

"It is been a while but I've not heard anything. "I don't want this accident happening again," she said, a reason why she wants the report of the accident to be made available.

“I demanded for the investigative report and I think they were still working on it at the time that I asked for it” she told Joy News Francis Abban.

Samuel Nuamah met his untimely death in August when the bus he was travelling in as part of a presidential convoy was involved in an accident near Shai Hills in Accra.

A week short of two months, she says she hasn’t heard of any report from government.

According to Lillian, it has been a while since she heard from Communications Minister Dr. Omane Boamah who had been in touch with the family when the incident occurred.

Lillian Nuamah wants the police report made public to provide a learning curve for posterity and to prevent such accidents from happening in the future.

"I want conditions to be changed. This time it was my husband. We don't know who it will be next," she said.

Lillian Nuamah was even more worried when she heard of another accident, Monday evening  that a bus carrying some journalists in the Western region was involved in an accident.

The journalists were returning from President John Mahama's commissioning ceremony of a new community Senior High School when the accident happened.

"I went back memory lane," she said.  “Sammy will be very, very happy if he sees that this is what has been achieved through his death. My husband’s soul will be very happy”, she said.

Lillian Nuamah added that the release of the report “will even help [her] heal”.

Describing life after losing her husband, Lillian says conditions have “very very tough”. “It has been tough, knowing that I am alone now”.

Lillian who is studying in the United States revealed she will be leaving “very soon” to continue her studies.

The police are meanwhile unavailable for comment.

The death of the late Samuel Nuamah sparked outrage about the working conditions of journalists, especially those attached to the Presidency.

Critics also questioned the physical integrity of the vehicle provided for the presidential press corps to cover assignments.

On the day of the accident, members of the press corps were reported to have raised issues about the competence of the driver.

They were said to have had two earlier close shaves with death before they finally got involved in the fatal accident.

But spokespersons of government including the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah have defended the quality of transportation provided to the journalists.

Even though the Chief of Staff was not in the vehicle on the day, he denied reports that the driver had been reckless.

Ghana Journalists Association president, Affail Monney also supported the secondary opinion of the Chief of Staff in an interview with Joy News' Manasseh Azure-Awuni.

Police have since begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident but are yet to make the report available.
