A 25-year old apprentice hairdresser has died in Accra after allegedly attempting to abort a pregnancy.
Victoria Ampah of North Kaneshie is said to have developed some complications after taking an undetermined concoction on Thursday. She was later rushed to the Korle-bu Teaching hospital where she passed away.
Her boyfriend, Kobby, told Joy News he is traumatized by the incident, saying the late Victoria only complained initially of general bodily pains and for which he procured some painkillers for her and also sought permission for her to stay away from work.
He also said Victoria had earlier told him she had missed her period and for which he assured her of his support and therefore least suspected she planned aborting the pregnancy.
Kobby said he left Vic at home on Tuesday to go to work and returned Wednesday to find her situation worsening and upon persistent interrogation, she confessed in the evening to have taken some preparation.
On Thursday morning he took her first to a local clinic from where she was referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where she eventually died.
