A 55-year-old woman from Ziavi-Dzogbe in the Volta Region, has been trapped to death by a silk-cotton tree allegedly felled by some chainsaw operators at Ziavi-Dzogbe.
Madam Yawa Anna Loyi, who hailed from Gbi-Abansi in Hohoe, met the tragedy when she and her grandson went to pick some oranges in an area where the tree was being felled.
The relative alleged that the chain-saw operators had earlier told Madam Loyi that she could come to pick the oranges if she no longer heard the noise of the chainsaw.
She, therefore, asked her grandson to accompany her to pick the oranges when the chainsaw went silent only to get trapped by the falling tree but her grandson escaped unhurt.
