The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako stole the show when he joined actress and media personality Afia Schwarzenegger at her father's funeral in Kumasi on Saturday.
The affable politician and businessman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi was the centre once he arrived at the KNUST poolside in Kumasi, where the event was held.
The affable Chairman Wontumi consoled the heavy-hearted actress who broke down and wept uncontrollably at the beginning of the final funeral rites.
Dressed in a black kaftan and accompanied by a team of NPP members, Chairman Wontumi was greeted with cheers from the other mourners, with many shouting his name.
When he got to the tent designated for the family, Afia Schwarzenegger, born Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, rushed to embrace him firmly.
The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman later took the microphone, officially greeted those present and announced a donation of ¢4,000.
Afia loses father
On January 17, the actress announced her father's passing on her social media pages. The 80-year-old had been battling an undisclosed sickness for many months.
Many colleagues and friends joined the actress to mourn in Accra during the one-week memorial.
