The Yamoransa Model Labs Programme, supported by the Helping Africa Foundation (HAF), is set to host the third Annual Impact Roundtable Discussion (AIRTAD '24) and Robotics Competition from February 26th to 28th, 2024, at the UPSA Main Auditorium.
This event is a celebration of innovation, education, and community development, highlighting the commitment to shaping a brighter future for Ghana through the empowerment of youth in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
AIRTAD '24, themed "Investing in the Future: The Yamoransa Model Labs Program," serves as a testament to the dedication of the YM Labs Program, the Helping Africa Foundation, and the IMPLEMENTERS in fostering sustainable development in Ghana.
Established in 2012 as an ICT Center initiative through the Yale Alumni Service Corps, the YM has grown into a comprehensive tool for sustainable development, encompassing projects like the YM Vision Screening Project and the YM Livelihoods Project, in addition to the flagship YM Labs Program.
The AIRTAD '24 event aims to showcase the impact of the YM Labs Program, highlighting practical skills acquired by students through a Robotics Competition. This competition underscores the technical prowess of participants and demonstrates the program's effectiveness in promoting innovation and creativity.

A key focus of AIRTAD '24 is to facilitate meaningful dialogue among stakeholders, including NGOs, government bodies, corporations, and entities committed to advancing STEAM education in Ghana. Roundtable discussions will explore strategies for enhancing the reach and effectiveness of STEAM education initiatives, fostering collaboration and synergy among different sectors.
The three-day event features a packed schedule of engaging activities:
- Day 1 (Feb 26): Commencement of preliminary competitions among participating schools.
- Day 2 (Feb 27): Robotics Exhibition showcasing student projects from labs in Ghana and Gambia, alongside panels discussing YM Labs' impact, future goals, and the role of partnerships in STEAM education.
- Day 3 (Feb 28): Robotics Competition among participating labs from Ghana and Banjul, Gambia. The day will also include a lecture on Artificial Intelligence and Lightning Talks.
The grand finale of AIRTAD '24 will be an Award Ceremony recognizing contributors to the advancement of STEAM education. As Ghana aims for technological advancement and economic development, investing in STEAM education becomes increasingly crucial, and AIRTAD '24 stands as a beacon of inspiration and collaboration towards that goal.
