The Young Democrats, a youth group affiliated to governing National Democratic Congress, has called on members of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG), to rescind their decision to embark on a nation-wide industrial action from August 27, 2013. The group believes the strike if executed, could have dire national security implications and affect efforts being made to keep the nation together ahead of the pronouncement of judgment by justices adjudicating the election petition, on August 29, 2013. JUSAC on Tuesday announced, its members will stay away from the Courts from Tuesday, August 27, two days before the Supreme Court pronounces judgment. It is aimed at compelling government to pay all outstanding allowances owed JUSAG members. But a release issued by Young Democrats described the timing of the planned industrial action as "unreasonable" adding, that "could be misconstrued as lacking good faith and unpatriotic to national concerns". "Young Democrats are also appealing to government to as a matter of urgency, reach out to JUSAG to assure them [JUSAG] that their concerns will be addressed".
