The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has extended a heartfelt message of condolence and solidarity to the families affected by the recent military helicopter tragedy that occurred on Wednesday, 6th August 2025.
Among the deceased are Ghana's Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Murtala Mohammed.
Other victims include Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Aboagye, a former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East; and Samuel Sarpong, a Vice Chairman of the NDC and a former Kumasi Mayor.
The crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Speaking at the Evening of Reflections and Memorial for the eight victims, Mr Debrah assured the bereaved families, wives, children, parents, and loved ones that the nation mourns with them and remains committed to supporting them in their grief.
“To the wives, children, parents, relatives, former colleagues and close comrades of our fallen heroes—know that you are not alone in this tragedy,” he said.
“We stand with you in flesh and in spirit. We know God will restore you and this nation. And we assure you of a complete closure on the events surrounding your painful loss.”
His remarks come in the wake of the tragic helicopter crash that occurred on 6th August, 2025 in the Ashanti Region, claiming the lives of several personnel onboard.
The incident has plunged the nation into mourning and sparked calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The ceremony, attended by high-ranking officials, religious leaders, members of the security services, and the general public, was marked by tributes, prayers, and a moment of silence to honour the deceased.
