Actress Kafui Danku has stirred a public conversation with her comments that women should not do house chores for men they are dating.
According to her, it is a natural calling to protect and support women at all costs but not subject them to stress in a relationship.
The actress who was speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, therefore, advised women to desist from such activities and return home after visiting their partners.
“You’re there busy cooking, are you okay, I want them to realize we have this natural calling to attend to women, to support them, to protect them at all cost.”
“It’s not like cooking will not come at all, it will come when we’re married, I said don’t even go to his house but if you have to go for any reason, come back home, don’t even sleep there,” she advised.
Some callers who called in on the show did not agree with the actress. They were of the view that it does not hurt as a woman to help a man you are in love with if he genuinely needs it.
Others also argued that women are naturally wired to fix things and, therefore, it is unusual for a woman to visit a man and not tidy up the place if it is messed up.
“At least for your own good, just do these little things for him, it comes naturally especially if you’re a very neat person, it really comes naturally, you just do it without knowing you’re even doing it or you expect something in return,” one woman said.
There were others who were also of the belief that a relationship is more like an audition hence if a woman refuses to meet the standards, she should not expect to be the only woman in the man’s life.
“It’s audition such that if you come in for the audition don’t think you’re in for a solo game, so if you come, don’t cook, don’t wash, I’m okay but don’t be surprised if you come and another lady has cooked,” he said.
Some also mentioned that in Africa, it’s a man’s world and so this form of feminism does not work here and the actress is only misleading the young girls.
