Zendaya just added another job to her already-stacked resumé. Announced on December 4, Z is officially the new face of Valentino.
The actor and musician has just joined forces with the legendary and iconic Italian fashion house, and we couldn't be more excited to see what this collaboration entails.
Valentino's creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli told WWD that the brand chose Zendaya as part of its quest to become more inclusive and modern.
“The reason why we chose Zendaya as the new face for Valentino is because she perfectly embodies and represents what Valentino is and stands for today,” he shared.
“She is a powerful and fierce young woman that uses her talent and her work to express herself, her values and her generation as well.”
As for Zendaya herself, she's thrilled about this latest opportunity. “I am honored to have been chosen as the face of Valentino,” she told WWD.
“I’m so excited to begin this amazing collaboration with Pierpaolo and the entire Valentino family.”
It's a match made in couture heaven, and even the house of Valentino agrees.
“Zendaya and Pierpaolo share the identity values of a generation she speaks for, in her most spontaneous, personal and progressive way,” the brand said in a statement.
“Awareness, inclusion, empathy and contemporary romanticism are the values that the creative director conveys to the Valentino community."
Z is currently representing Lancôme and is the face of its Lash Idôle mascara.
She has also been featured in Bulgari jewelry campaigns and has collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger on several fashion collections of her own.
If that wasn't enough, she has been awarded major honours for her fashion sense.
Zendaya can currently be seen in a few new images from Valentino, where she dons loose black and white dresses — one high-necked, one in lace — and clutches the brand's Roman stud bags.
Shot by Michael Bailey Gates and styled by her long-time collaborator Law Roach, the first images are simple and elegant, with the actor wearing minimal makeup, skipping shoes, and letting her hair fall long and loose down her back.
If these gorgeous, ethereal shots are any indication, there's much more beauty to come from Zendaya and Valentino!
