The Chief Executive Officer of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) has said that 11 regions have benefitted from the Sustainable Rural Water and Sanitation Project.
According to Dr Worlanyo Kwadjo Siabi, through the project, communities across the 11 regions have received good sanitation interventions which have improved their living conditions in terms of hygiene.
The regions are; Ahafo, Bono, Bono East, Central, Western North, Upper West, Upper East, North East and Savanna
He made this known during a press briefing by the Ministry of information on Sunday, December 11th, 2022.
“The programmes we have implemented, there is one we called Sustainable Rural Water and Sanitation Project (SRWSP) funded through a loan of US$ 41.5 which was obtained by the government. This project was implemented in 11 regions which include Ahafo, Bono, Bono East, Central, Western North, Upper West, Upper East, North East and Savanna,” he said.
Dr Kwadjo Siabi explained that, through the project, numerous programmes have been executed to the benefit of the communities involved.
“At the end of the project, we had 21, 776 household toilets in all 11 regions. We also carried out 568 institutional toilets in 224 basic schools across the eleven regions.
"We also achieved 947 Open Defecation Free communities across those regions. We carried out hygiene promotions in all communities we visited,” the CWSA CEO stated.
The Chief Executive Officer further stated that the CWSA is involved in sanitation provision only when it is water-related.
He assured that they are committed to the effective and efficient delivery of safe and sustainable water services to rural communities and small towns.
