The usually quiet area of Adweso, a suburb of Koforidua, was on Monday evening greeted with a horrifying spectacle of a 14-year-old Junior High School (JHS) boy in his school uniform hanging dead in an uncompleted building.The residents of the uncompleted structure, shocked at the ghastly sight of the dangling body, called in the police who dashed there to bring it down.The deceased, identified as Kwaku Ayeetey, a form one student of the Anglican JHS, whose Australian-based biological parents had entrusted him into the care of a guardian, Mrs Margaret Tetteh, a teacher, was found hanging around 5.30 p.m. with a nylon rope round his neck.When the Daily Graphic visited the scene to interview some of the residents of the area, it was revealed that the deceased was found loitering in the vicinity in the afternoon on that fateful day holding a rope and was allegedly believed to have committed the act when the occupants of the structure had not returned from work. The New Juaben District Police Commander, DSP John Naami, who confirmed the story to the Daily Graphic, said the body of the deceased had been conveyed to the morgue of the Regional Hospital and that it would be later taken to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for an autopsy.According to him, the police received the information around 10 p.m. on Monday and a team of police investigators, including himself went to the scene and found the deceased hanging with no marks of violence.DSP Nammi said that the police were still investigating the incident and, therefore, declined further comments.In a telephone interview, an occupant of the building, who gave her name as Joyce, who found the deceased hanging and raised the alarm; described the deceased as a "quite, innocent-looking person" and expressed shock at his death.However, attempts by this reporter to reach the guardian of the deceased proved futile.Source: Daily Graphic
