An elderly woman and a child died on the spot when a Nissan Pick-up run over them at Akyem Bakabi near Koforidua in the Eastern region Saturday.Eastern regional Police MTTU boss Chief Superintendent Sarfo Peprah explained to Joy News what led to the gory accident.He narrated that, “One Yaw Adu, aged 54 years was driving a Nissan Pick-up with registration number GC 4381-10 from Koforidua to Akyease. On reaching Akyem Bakabi, he run over a speed rump and lost control just after and then the vehicle started somersaulting and landed on two pedestrians.”The two pedestrians, he said were Comfort Dzifa and Christiana Mesimi, 15, and “the three occupants [of the vehicle], the driver and two others, were all injured and were rushed to the Oda Government Hospital.”Chief Superintendent Sarfo Peprah added that one of them has been referred to the Koforidua Regional Hospital while the driver and the third occupant are on admission at the Oda Government Hospital.
